Second annual event to offer diverse perspective through TEDTalks
HONG KONG, April 10, 2013 – Craft House and Celebrating Life Ltd, today announced the confirmed speaker line-up for the second TEDxVictoriaHarbour on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Themed, E-Motions in Travel & Tourism, the event serves as a local platform to inspire change and progress in tourism and travel.
TEDxVictoriaHarbour will take place at Hong Kong’s historical landmark Sunbeam Theatre and include a diverse group of speakers from media, entertainment and academia, to entrepreneurs, artists and designers, in line with TEDx’s aim to stimulate discussion at a local level. Read more...

“I was speaking to a conference sponsor recently, and he was stating his concern over lack of attendee interest. After asking him what the problem was, he stated that even though he had paid for sponsorship, few people were coming to his booth. I could understand his concern, but pointed out that logo placement on a banner and a simple booth with brochures just wouldn’t be enough to engage the audience. The problem is, as I discovered, many companies are bound to brand guidelines dictating exactly how a trade show booth should look, what it should say, how you should dress, what you should distribute, etc. And as a result, all booths look virtually identical. Let’s walk and talk. Why? I’ve been sitting all day, and I’d rather walk than grab (yet) another coffee, the fresh air is good for us, new environments are stimulating and when we’re walking, I’m not only 100% present and fully engaged, but I’m on my toes and my brain is switched on. “I was at lunch the other day with the PR director of a hotel management company and a representative from their PR agency. Mid-lunch, they turned to me and asked what my favorite hotel brand is. It wasn’t a loaded question, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say I stalled. I hesitated, didn’t know how to answer and probably looked like I was dumbstruck for a split second or two.
